The NHL is looking to get its new home ready for the 2016-17 season and has selected two homes as finalists.
The NHL and the owners of each team will present the teams with a list of proposals at a news conference Monday afternoon.
The owners will vote on which proposal they think best reflects their values and desires for the facility.
The vote is expected to last until June 15.
The teams’ list of finalists will be announced Tuesday.
“We’re excited to announce that the Nashville Predators have won the bid for a new NHL arena in Nashville,” NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement.
“This is an important win for Nashville and the NHL community.
It will bring more jobs, more income and more exciting hockey for all of our fans.”
The Predators won the bidding war to renovate Bridgestone Arena and the Bridgestones Arena is being built by the same company that has developed and managed the Predators’ Bridgestoned Arena, which opened in the summer of 2011.
The Bridgestoning Arena was built by BridgestONE, a company that also manages Bridgestoner Arena, where the Predators play.
The Predators are seeking $750 million for the $1.9 billion arena and $350 million for a retractable roof.
The arena is set to open in 2021.
The announcement comes a few months after the NHL announced the expansion of the league to 32 teams.
The league announced that Nashville and Minneapolis would join the league in 2018, and Los Angeles will join in 2022.
